Welcome to our PTFA Website, hosted by BTCommunity Website, and a Happy New Year!
The Beacon School's own website will provide you with a wealth of information.
All parents and carers become members of our PTFA when their children join The Beacon School. Our Association is run by an elected committee, serving for a year, from one AGM to the next. Additional volunteers may join the committee for a shorter term. Our AGM was held on 14th September 2011. The minutes will be available soon, in the meantime, you can read the Chair's Report and see the newly elected committee members.
We are members of the PTA-UK (previously known as the NCPTA) and adopted their model Constitution (2008 version) at our AGM on 10th September 2009, and have just recently become a Registered Charity (No. 1140981).
We organise events to raise money to purchase equipment, goods or projects for the school that they may not be able to fund themselves. Examples of purchases are books, I.T. equipment (hardware and software), play and and sports equipment. In addition, we run some events purely for the enjoyment and cohesion of the school community. Occasionally we fundraise for other causes, such as our toy sale in aid of the Haati appeal. Additionally, we do anything we can to enhance the school environment. This school year, we have been asked to raise £6,000 to buy our school a set of it's own brass instruments. The Beacon Brass has gone from strength to strength in recent years and it seems fitting to take this step from hiring to owning.
To view details of our planned events, choose the 'Calendar' page, alternatively click here to see our latest newsletter. A year’s events include our Summer Fayre held in the grounds of Holy Trinity Church, our Christmas Fayre held in school along with discos, pancake races, book, cake, and pre-owned uniform sales. There are events for adults such as Quiz and Skittle Nights, also family events such as Beetle Drives or Bingo Evenings. The PTFA may also assist at school events and you will often see committee members serving refreshments. Any time that you can give will help and will be much appreciated. We are especially keen to receive any outgrown school uniform to boost the selection for our next sale.
